Something About a River is a performance installation in three parts, with each part taking place in a different season and at a different location along the buried Garrison Creek in the western part of the city. Using the underground river as a metaphor for all that lays dormant in an overly civilized society, something about a river explores various angles on the notion of ambivalence.

Two years in the making, the SOMETHING ABOUT A RIVER trilogy was performed (November 13-29, 2003), in its entirety as a 5-hour performance installation moving the audience from one location to the next by bus.

Part 1: THE FIRE SERMON was developed in the summer of 2002 near the upper part of the river at the The Metro XXX Theatre
(677 Bloor Street West).
Start time 7 p.m.

Part 2: DEATH BY WATER was performed at the Bates & Dodds Funeral Home (931 Queen Street West), and simultaneously at Trinity Bellwoods Park near the middle of the buried creek. Start time: 9 p.m.

Part 3: WHAT THE THUNDER SAID was performed at the bottom of the creek.
(376 Dufferin Street, between King & Queen Streets, Rear Unit)
Start time: 11 p.m.
